What to do with it

Strip the tree completely first: take off every decoration, all fairy lights, the stand and any wooden block at the base. Cut the trunk and branches down small so they break down faster, then compost them if you have space, or use the wood for a garden border. If you have no space, book a Baanza disposal pickup rather than leaving it outside your gate.
